Melt travel monitoring
Employing the scanner-based laser welding method, the entire weld seam is molten nearly simultaneously. For this reason the two parts to be welded can be moved towards one another by means of an appropriate clamping device during the joining process. The online measurement of this melt travel enables to decide about the achieved weld quality. This monitoring method is already used in conventional plastic welding processes, such as the heating element or vibration welding, and would also be worth using for scanner-based laser welding.
All the scanner-based LaserQuipment® welding systems are already equipped with this robust process monitoring method as standard.*
