Vision systems

Online CCD monitoring is an additional method offered by LPKF Laser & Electronics AG, Plastics Welding Division. This method is already widely used for QA in industrial manufacturing. It can be used for monitoring the weld quality of materials that provide a sufficiently high level of contrast, such as opaque/black materials. Such a monitoring system can be easily integrated especially for contour welding processes.

Application example

The figure shows the photograph of a bubble in the weld seam as seen by a CCD camera. In this way the smallest faults in the weld seam can be successfully recognised with a corresponding evaluation algorithm. In addition, the monitoring system can analyse the width of the weld seam and use it as an additional quality criteria.
